CUSO PNG is supporting the work of those who are creating people-centered development in Papua New Guinea. We work with local organisations in programmatic and technical support roles.
CUSO Papua New Guinea has its office in Madang with a staff of three.
The Focus of CUSO PNG's work is to support the work of organisations working:
- directly with Communities or
towards, Gender Equality
With this focus, we are building on CUSO PNG's work of the last decade. However, the type of support we provide has been modified to remain responsive to Papua New Guinean priorities.
We offer value to Papua New Guinean organisations in three primary ways:
Placement Development & Funding for Cooperants
Dialogue/Networking
Investigation or Research
Our core service to these organisations is the recruitment of experienced and qualified Canadians (cooperants) to assist. In many instances we also work very closely with other organisations where there is no cooperant. To these partners we offer support from our office staff or other resources available in the country.
An integral strategy is to share CUSO PNG's resources as widely as possible. Collaboration with other agencies such the German Development Service, Community Development Scheme, and World Wildlife Fund have facilitated both the sharing of CUSO's resources throughout the country.
