Introduction:

Welcome to the second report for 2006.
This is the forty seventh report on the Church Building program for the month of February.
In 2002, we established agreements with all of the sub parishes, and work started at Amu.
In 2003, we collected gravel for Arop1, Arop2 and Pou; began site work at Arop1 and Pou, and the welding of the steel frames for Arop2; at Amu we completed the roof and the concrete floor; at Barapu completed ground works; and began the design of Barapu and Sissano.
October 2005 was the opening of the Amu church in Malol. Followed by the beginning of work on another church in Malol at Areki.

This month of February at Areki, from 1st to 2nd Feb, work continued on from 31st January with the backfilling of the ground, setting out ground sheets (plastic)and ARC mesh, and tying down the starter bars. The work on constructing formworks for the stairs on the "G" section of the sanctuary area also continued.

On 3rd February, poured cement to make two floor slabs of the main floor area. There's three more still to complete.

From 4th to 6th February, poured cement on the steps and the floor slabl of "G" section of the sanctuary area.

From 7th to 9th February, poured cement on the short walls of the "H" section of the sanctuary area. The internal area also needed to be backfilled with ground at a later date, construction of formworks for the "J" and "K" sections of the sanctuary area continued and work started on the main roof trusses. By 8th February, the roof trusses and "J" and "K" section of the sanctuary were complete and work continued with the backfilling on the "H" section and construction of formworks for th short walls on the "J" and "K" sections of the sanctuary area. There are four more trusses to complete for the main roof.

From 10th to 15th Feb, construction of the other trusses continued with formworks for "K" section of the sanctuary and external wall (short walls). Formworks for the step of the "H" and "I" section of the sanctuary were put in, and were all cemented.

From 16th to 20th Feb, backfilling of the "K" section and cementing of the short walls (internal) around the front step area of the sanctuary completed all the other five trusses, completed steps formwork and backfilling of the "K" and "H" section of the sanctuary.

On 21st February, poured cement on the front step and preparations got underway to lift the trusses.

From 22nd to 27th February, put up the trusses, centred the first five trusses the two end trusses for overhangs and put up temporary braces to support them.
