Introduction:

Welcome to the sixth report for 2004.
This is the twenty seventh report on the Church Building program for the month of June.
In 2002, we established agreements with all of the sub parishes, and started work at Amu.
In 2003, we collected gravel for Arop1, Arop2 and Pou; began site work at Arop1 and Pou, and the welding of the steel frames for Arop2; at Amu we completed the roof and the concrete floor; at Barapu completed the ground works; and began the design of Barapu and Sissano.

This month in spite of it being called the dry season, the Yalingi River was often flooded, and slips have cut off the Arop road access. The only access to sites was by speed boat. The roofing for the Pou church was delivered by boat to Arop2, and then carried over the new road down to Pou. Site visits were done by boat and on foot.

Photo 1 above and Photo 2 (top left pg.2) show the Amu church tower, erected in June. The tower legs are 10 meters tall and to the top of the spire is 18 metres.
