Introduction:Welcome to the eleventh report for 2005.
This is the forty forth report on the Church Building program for the month of November.
In 2002, we established agreements with all of the sub parishes, and work started at Amu.
In 2003, we collected gravel for Arop1, Arop2 and Pou; began site work at Arop1 and Pou, and the welding of the steel frames for Arop2; at Amu we completed the roof and the concrete floor; at Barapu completed ground works; and began the design of Barapu and Sissano.
October 2005 was the opening of the Amu church in Malol. Followed by the beginning of work on another church in Malol at Areki. This month of November at Areki, all the posts for the main building are up. There is just 4 months to go for the tower. Excavation and cementing of the ground beams for one side of the building, and also for the tower is complete. Backfilling and leveling has started for the main building to take on the main floor slabs.
A site check was also conducted by the Project Supervisor, Steve Garry on 17th November.
From 18th to 31st November, there was the arrival of the steel which were fixed and the boxing and cementing of the ground beams was done. Work continued with the backfilling and compacting of the main floor slab areas while waiting for the formworks to be shipped for the ground beams.
26th November saw the boxing of the remaining ground beams and backfilling and compacting of the main floor slab areas. On 29th November, backfilling and leveling of the ground for 2 tanks stands, with erecting of the two internal posts for the tower. However they couldn't be cemented because of shortage of cement.
And finally, 31st November saw preparations for the centre isle floor slab, with marking out of the floor levels (dumpy level), and profiles etc.
