St. Theresia Sisters

Our congregation

The name of our congregation is sisters of St. Therese of the Child Jisas. It is a Diocesan Congregation of the Archdiocese of Madang in Papua New Guinea.

History

The late Archbishop Adolf Noser S.V.D founded the congregation at Alexishafen 25th of March 1954. He was assisted by Sister Arsenia Barbava Wild SSPS. Rome authorized its erection by a letter on January 24, 1954. The sisters were called sisters of St. Therese of the Child Jisas, the Patroness of Mission.

Vision

Our vision is to depend on the faith of the Families by carrying out 'Jisas Mission' in Papua New Guinea and in Aitape Diocese at Suain.

Our Apostolate in Suain, Aitape Diocese

All our work we do is geared to promote and strengthen our main Apostolate and that is Family Apostolate. We see family as the haven for the perfect growth of Christian Communities. We work to strengthen and maintain the faith in the families, so that they may live by Catholic faith and do all their wor k in faith. We sisters are involved in teaching, giving retreats; work with youths, mothers, management, pastoral work, running workshops and other activities. We also simply help in the Parish. We work in Suain, our only assignment in Aitape Diocese.
