Touch Rugby Grand Finale (Aitape)

First Touch Footy Grand Final in Aitape, ends on a high note over the Easter weekend.

After weeks of competition, only one team in both the men and women's division were able to claim victory.

Two teams in both divisions battled it out on Easter Monday, to see who would take home shields. In the end, the men's team, Town Radicals and the women's team Drifters came out with flying colours.

The seasonal games were sponsored by the St. John of God Brothers in conjunction with the Diocesan HIV/AIDS office.

There was also an AIDS awareness drama performed during the event which attracted many, emphasizing on the need to adhere to the warnings.

The theme that was portrayed throughout the seasonal games was "play safe, stay safe".

A lot of the players from the various teams commented that the games were an eye-opener, as it was the first time for it to be played in Aitape.

They were also encouraged by the Association executives to improve their skills in the game as to enable them to partake in regional and national championships.

According to head organisers Br. Cletus Walle oh, and Br. Emmanuel Bagare oh, they are looking forward to sending a team of both the men and women's division to participate in the up-coming games in Lae this year.
