Children from the Labuain community in Aitape, will now have easy access to formal education.
Member for Aitape-Lumi Patrick Pruaitch officially opened the Labuain Community School late last month.
He also gave the school, aid post and three other community-based projects in Labuain, Mehet and Aruk, K50, 000 to assist them in their operations.
He also assured the people that the Nabuse loop road, linkng the hinterland villages in the Aitape-East coast area including Labuain village, would become a reality when the developer for Aitape-Lumi Consolidated FMA project is finally tendered for late this year.
District Education Advisor Robert Miroi said the school currently has two classes and an enrolment of 88 students.
He said the school had always been neglected in terms of funding, resources, materials and teachers because of uncertainties over responsibilities and obligations of respective provincial governments.
