Suau Develops

By DrumBeat

Some years ago the people of the village of Suau asked the brothers at Walamu to help with their medical problems. Suau is not connected to Walamu by road but by a bush track that takes two hours to walk. The brothers were quite happy to answer the request.

During the year, the St. John of God Brothers appointed Br. Kris Kasoni, a Community Health Worker, in charge of the Suau Clinic.

Br. Kris has become an integral part of the Suau Village and is always greeted with great excitement when he returns from collecting medical supplies or having been on a medical patrol. Now Br. Kris has two other brothers who are in training to help him in his work.

Because the work at Suau has now increased the brothers have decided to make the buildings at Suau more permanent. Currently the buildings are made from bush materials so there is an effort to provide proper roofing and other amenities so that things will run more efficiently.
