'Mini Wave Disaster' Update

An update of the recent mini wave devastation.

Early last month the residence of Ali/Sissano Camp were faced with the fear of relocating their homes. Fortunately, a week after the mini wave disaster, sea levels dropped and therefore had lessened the amount of erosion that had already taken place.

Mrs. Rebecca Pailal whose home was threatened to be destroyed by these eroding waves had taken the warning and was relocated.

As for the others at Ali/Sissano Camp, life still went on even after their make-shift toilets were either washed away of left dangling from the side of the cut earth.

Local visitors to the famous Mete Beach Club were also relieved that the club was not washed away. They're looking forward to many more evenings again spent beside the sea-shore with mates and a nice cold drink.

However, people are adviced not to take it for granted that the rough seas are gone. They will be back and if these residences are not alert and act quickly to safeguard or build proper barriers to protect their shoreline, it will be washed away again.
