R.I. Coordinator's workshop

A three day workshop for school R.I. Coordinators in Aitape Deanery was conducted at St. Martin's Pastoral Centre from 28th February to 2nd March 2007.

Fifteen R.I. Coordinators attended out of the expected twenty-five (25) schools.

The workshop's aim was to revisit some of the weak areas as far as R.I. in schools was concerned. Responsibilities of R.I. Coordinators and Headteachers. And to find new ideas to make R.I. effective in our schools.

Time was also given to the Diocesan Pastoral Renewal Team (DTPA) who also helped the coordinators to understand the Renewal Plan and how they could help to implement it.

"We were very grateful to have the Primary School Inspector who gave a talk supporting the obligation of teachers to teach R.I. in all schools as a subject of learning," commented Bill Nasa, Diocesan Christian Education Coordinator.

The workshop ended with a Mass celebrated by Fr. Dominic Numbanoko with the theme; 'Nurturing the Faith through Christian Education.'
