New School Year greetings to all our new and continuing teachers, students, school's management, parents and the wider school communities. Let us hope and pray that 2006 will be a prosperous year for us all in terms of development and achievements.
Operational and policy changes within the Division of Education in the province under the command of Frank Evans is beginning to have some impact on some long outstanding issues.
One teacher per class in the upper primary classes has greatly helped to fill vacancies in other schools which were without teachers in the past couple of years.
Tighter control on posting changes also contributed to fair distribution of teachers especially to remote schools.
We are looking forward to a 100% NO PAY PROBLEM this year.
Transport was the main obsticle to teachers. Punctuality especially to get to their schools on time to resume the school year. Airlines were inconsistant in their flight arrangements, travel tickets were slow and road systems were in bad state due to poor weather conditions. LLGs, Parishes, Boards of Management and agencies who are able to play a role in this situation to assist teachers who are posted to their schools.
I wish to appeal to every school community to combine their efforts with the school authorities, schools management and the churches to build a school of valuable learning for our future generation.
Let us be successful this year through peaceful and collaborative efforts.
Let the Holy Rosary be our source of strenght.
