Corpus Christi Celebrations

By Sr. Bernie, S.C.E.C. - Arop

13th June was the feast of Corpus Christi which was also the school’s feast day (patron). The Catholics from Wawroin, Pou and Arop gathered at the new uncompleted Corpus Christi Church to commemorate the feast with a lotu service.

There were activities after the lotu to celebrate the day with choirs, action songs, dramas and sporting activities. There was also a big bung kaikai to complete the day. All went home, happy and full of praise.

The people of St. Anthony Parish, Ali Island also celebrated Corpus Christi in a big way.

Many flocked to the Island to witness the annual procession through the various villages.

There was even a special visit by student members of a prayer club from St. Ignatius Secondary School, who were on an excursion.

One of the main attractions were the different styles of altar displays, depicting the people’s faith and belief in giving honour and praise to the Holy Eucharist, the Body of Jesus Christ.
