Basic HIV/AIDS workshop

After the duration of the basic HIV/AIDS workshop, participants are now equipped with the knowledge to do work as both family life core-group workers and aids awareness workers.

Workshop participants from the Personal Integration workshop stayed on for another week to attend the one-week basic HIV/AIDS workshop.

After the week's session, a closing luncheon was held for all, with invited guests including Bishop Austen Crapp ofm, Vicar General Fr. Greg Bourke ofm and Fr. Eduardo Armenta ofm (Franciscan Provincial).

"Igat bikpela wok tru insait long ol ples long wanem, famili laip em i as tru long strongim dispela gutpela laip. Nau igat planti ol kainkain bagarap na hevi, Yumi tingim hau bai yumi stretim? Igat wei ikam sapos igat strong, sapos igat bilip," said Bishop Austen, during his luncheon speech.

He added too that these kind of workshops will strengthen our Pastoral Plan that we are all working towards in our Diocese.

Melani Aini a participant and the only female attending also suggested that there be more women participants in future courses offered, because women also play a big role in the smooth running of everyday living as well.

Fr. Eduardo also mentioned that a lot of the work of renewal starts with families. And Bishop Austen added saying: "sapos yumi planim ol kaikai nogut, bai em i karim kaikai nogut."

Diocesan Caritas Coordinator and head of Social Services Ministry, Rori Rawah, added that the workshops were just the start of the journey for families and their lives. There will be storms to overcome but they have to be strong.
When the storm comes, cut it through and tackle the challenges and you'll find calm waters and good weather on the other side," said Mr. Rawah.

After the luncheon there was a farewell Mass where certificates were blessed and awarded to the participants.
