"The National Family Life Office is impressed with what the diocese is doing, and we commend Mr. Silam who has been doing some good work."

These were the remarks of the National Trainer from the Family Life Apostolate headquarters in Goroka, Mr. Balinus Helapu, during a one-week workshop held for diocesan family life core-group members.

The workshop based on Personal Integration started on 19th March and ended on Friday 23rd March 2007, was held at St. Martins Pastoral Centre.

A total of 18 participants attended from within the three (3) deaneris; Aitape (10), Lumi (3) and Nuku (5).

The various topics covered were Introduction to Personhood, Moral Growth, View of sexuality, Marriage, Responsible Parenthood, Psycho-social Growth and many others.

"Long makim maus bilong Nesinol Opis, mi laik tok olsem, I'm impressed. The spirit is high and I'm willing to offer more," said Mr. Helapu.

He added that the Diocese had a really good setup and that Family Life was a well-structured ministry in the church, and also stressed that Mr. Silam has done a lot of good work so far and should be equipped and enabled to do more.

He also commended the participants on their efforts, saying that they were very good and happy to learn and do the work.

The participants also stayed for another week to attend the basic HIV/AIDS workshop.
