School children around Aitape town joined hands together for Adoration on Friday 3rd October, during a combined program scheduled in commemoration of the 6th World Children's Holy Hour.
The program organised by Fr. Gianni Gatei ofm, an Italian Franciscan Friar in Aitape, is also the first of it's kind for the Diocese.
According to Fr. Gianni, notices were sent out to the schools, primary, community and elementary, through Religious Instruction Coordinators to prepare the children for the special occassion.
He said that the event should be observed as part of the school calendar because majority of the schools in the diocese were managed by the Catholic Education Agency and so, days such as these were of importance to the children.
The children participated in the various activities such as a short procession with the statue of Mary where the children carried flags of the world. There was also a presentation of petitions and lighting of candles, prayer of the Holy Spirit, Missionary Rosary for the families of the world and benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament.
The program was held at the St. Ignatius Cathedral in Aitape.
