The Franciscan Friars of the Papua New Guinea Province gathered in Aitape recently for a special meeting.
This one-week meeting was led by Fr. Philip Miscampbell, a visitor from the Sydney Province in Australia.
A total of 20 friars both priests and brothers from Port Moresby, Kimbe and Aitape were participants in the special meeting which was held from 10th to 17th September.
According to Fr. Greg Bourke ofm, Vicar General of Aitape Diocese, the special meeting was held after every six years. And during this time leaders of the order were elected. Fr. Eduardo Armenta was re-elected again to be the Provincial and Fr. Sebastian Valustaut was elected to be the Vicar.
During the meeting too, the Friars reviewed all their activities carried out during the past six years and also made some planning for the next six years.
